Vision insurance
What are the types of Vision Coverage?
Vision plans may be sold separately or in combination with a dental plan. There are several types of vision plans. Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) provides coverage through a network like physicIans and hospitals. You may use providers outside of the network but may incur higher costs. Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans require the member to select a primary provider and see only providers in the network. You may be required to live within a certain geographic area to qualify for an (HMO) plan. Point of Service (POS) plans allow you to pay less if you use hospitals, doctors and other providers in the network. A referral is necessary from your primary doctor to see a specialist for the HMO and the POS. Indemnity Insurance Plans allow you to choose a provider without any effect on reimbursement. The insurance company pays for some or all of your care.
Consult an agent who will help you to navigate the different plans and decide which one is best for you.
